DEKKLE INTAGLIO WORKSHOPS IN AUSTRIA
4-day intensive intaglio workshops taught by David Borrington MA RCA and Viq Ali BA. The workshops take place over an 8 day period, offering students the chance for sightseeing at the weekend.
Location The workshop facilities in Dietersdorf, Lower Austria are set in a rural location, surrounded by woods, fields and gentle hills which are popular with walkers and cyclists.
Workshop Content The course focuses on drawing and experimentation. Participants will receive comprehensive instruction on intaglio processes including etching and drypoint, to the use of hard and soft grounds, aquatint, sugarlift and more. We’ll use zinc plates in fast-acting copper sulphate solution because of its immediacy and flexibility. More on content
Sightseeing Possibilities As the workshop is less than 20 miles to Vienna or to regional attractions in Lower Austria, you have the perfect opportunity to combine printmaking with sightseeing locally, regionally and in the capital itself. Apart from great coffee and cakes, Vienna's cultural highlights include Schönbrunn Palace, Belvedere Palace, the Secession Museum and the Museums Quarter. Travelling west, a trip to the World Heritage Wachau Valley and the walled city of Dürnstein on the Danube is a must.
